Our Faith

God

God creates, sustains, and redeems everything that exists through his Son. He is one God in three persons “Father, Son and Holy Spirit.” God the Father loves us and desires that we have a relationship with Him as His children.

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God, fully God and fully man. The virgin-born Son of God died for our sins, was buried, rose from the dead and is coming again for His Church.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the unseen and personal manifestation of God actively working in the world. The Holy Spirit convicts of sin and makes us aware of our need for Christ. The Holy Spirit provides strength, comfort, and guidance and helps us to develop in the character and nature of God.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, the written by supernaturally inspired human writers. It is the record of God’s revelation of Himself to man, absolute in its authority, complete in its revelation, final in its content, and without error in its teaching.

Salvation

The Bible teaches a person is saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus, the Son of God. Nothing we try to do on our own could ever make right our relationship with God, earn our salvation or pay for our sins. Jesus, however did pay for our sins in full through His death on the cross. This “good news” (gospel) of forgiveness of sin and promise of eternal life is offered to all.

The Bible teaches that to accept Jesus as Savior is to believe in Christ as God’s Son and Savior of the world, to repent of personal sin, to confess Christ as Lord, and to be immersed in baptism for the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Baptism

“Baptism” in the original Greek language meant to “dip, plunge or immerse.” In keeping with the Biblical pattern, MVA Church of Christ practices baptism by immersion as part of one’s acceptance of Christ for salvation. Baptism is a beautiful picture of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ and a way we join with Christ by dying to our old selves and being raised to a new life.

In every conversion experience recorded in the New Testament, the person was baptized. Baptism is integral to becoming a follower of Christ.

We do not administer baptism to infants or to children who have not confessed faith in Jesus, nor do we baptize by any mode other than immersion due to the Biblical call for belief, repentance and confession and the fact that children are born innocent and sin-free.

The Church

The Church is the body of Christ on earth, a community of believers throughout the world. As a local church body of Christ-followers this “Body of Christ” should grow in the teaching of the Bible together, take the Lord’s Supper together, worship together, seek to meet each others’ physical and spiritual needs and embody of general lifestyle of love for each other that would lead those outside to acknowledge our model of selfless love, Jesus Christ.

We desire to build the church without denominational name, man-written creed, or any other barrier to Christian unity while seeking that unity will all believers in matters essential to the Christian faith, and contending for liberty on all matters where the Lord has not spoken through His Word.

The mission of the church is to lead sinners to Christ, to teach them to know him fully, and to be led to become mobile ambassadors for Christ in the world so that the process may begin again in others: to essentially know, show and grow.

Eternity

Eternity: We believe in the eternal assignment of all people to heaven or to hell based on our individual response to God’s offer of forgiveness and salvation. No one knows the day or the hour of the sure return of Christ for His Church. The Bible teaches that Jesus will come down from Heaven and all Christians dead and alive will be raised to eternal life.
